Amelioration of Rhabdomyolysis-Induced Myoglobinuric Acute Renal Failure by Citrullus lanatus Seeds

Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) (Cucerbitaceae) is a trailing annual herb native to India, Nigeria, and Africa, commonly known as Matsum Nakai. This study looked at the effects of methanol extract C. (MCL) on rhabdomyolysis-induced myoglobinuric acute renal failure (ARF) Wistar rats. Five groups (n = 5) male Albino rats weighing 150–200 g were formed. A single intramuscular injection glycerol (GL) (8 ml/kg) was induce ARF. Following GL injection, animals sacrificed blood collected. Renal function tests utilizing urea nitrogen (BUN) creatinine performed freshly separated serum. The right stored 10% buffered formalin for histological sectioning, amount lipid peroxidation, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), reduced glutathione (GSH) activity measured. data analyzed using one-way ANOVA Dunnett’s test. *P > 0.05 considered statistically significant.
