چکیده

Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) (Cucerbitaceae) is a trailing annual herb native to India, Nigeria, and Africa, commonly known as Matsum Nakai. It thrives in all tropical, subtropical, warm temperate areas with hot summers. In seeds have long been used treat hypotensive diuretic effects, well kidney stones urinary passages. This study looked at the effects of methanol extract C. (MCL) on rhabdomyolysis-induced myoglobinuric acute renal failure (ARF) Wistar rats. Five groups (n = 5) male Albino rats weighing 150–200 g were formed. A single intramuscular injection glycerol (GL) (8 ml/kg) was induce ARF. Following GL injection, animals sacrificed blood collected. Renal function tests utilizing urea nitrogen (BUN) creatinine performed freshly separated serum. The right stored 10% buffered formalin for histological sectioning, amount lipid peroxidation, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), reduced glutathione (GSH) activity measured. data analyzed using one-way ANOVA Dunnett’s test. *P > 0.05 considered statistically significant. Animals pre-treated MCL (100 300 mg kg-1, p.o.) 7 days before dramatically altered restored serum creatinine, BUN, clearance, morphology comparison GL-treated group. Oxidative stress markers such SOD, CAT, GSH also improved. findings this suggest that seed has possible anti-GL-induced ARF effect, verifying its ethnomedicinal use.

Amphetamine-induced myoglobinuric acute renal failure.

A 36-year-old man was admitted because of sopor and dark urine after intravenous amphetamine injection. He subsequently developed myoglobinuria and acute renal failure. Serum myoglobin value was remarkably elevated to 83,000 ng/ml, and urine myoglobin was 400,000 ng/ml. Renal biopsy revealed tubular degeneration and tubular obstruction with myoglobin casts by immunofluorescence examination. Amp...

Rhabdomyolysis and myoglobinuric renal failure following cardioversion and CPR for acute MI.

A 50-year-old man suffered an MI with VFIB at work, and efforts at resuscitation were initiated immediately. Ninety minutes of CPR and 14 cardioversions were given by trained personnel before VFIB converted to sinus rhythm. Reversible myoglobinuric renal failure ensued, requiring two weeks of hemodialysis. Scanning with technetium-99m pyrophosphate revealed extensive muscle injury in the region...

Recurrent rhabdomyolysis and myoglobinuric acute renal failure in a patient with polymyositis.

We report on a 57-year-old woman with polymyositis who on two occasions presented with rhabdomyolysis and myoglobinuria, with resultant oliguric acute renal failures, the second episosde of which required haemodialysis. Polymyositis is a rare and gradually progressive autoimmune inflammatory disease of skeletal muscle that is characterized by muscle weakness, usually proximal and symmetric, ele...

Acute renal failure caused by nontraumatic rhabdomyolysis.

Nontraumatic rhabdomyolysis may be associated with severe metabolic disturbances. In particular, previous literature has described a 8-20% incidence of acute renal failure in rhabdomyolysis. The aim of this study was to evaluate our experience on 11 patients with acute renal failure treated by high-efficiency daily hemodialysis.

Acute renal failure due to traumatic rhabdomyolysis.

Between 1990 and 1993, we studied 14 cases of acute renal failure due to prolonged muscular exercise (e.g., squat jumping, sit-ups) and blunt trauma inflicted by law enforcement personnel using sticks or leather belts. None of the patients had a prior history of myopathy, neuropathy, or renal disease. All were critically ill and required renal support in the form of dialysis. Although the morbi...
